Beyond a Prayer

I heard someone say that our generation can no longer be saved. This comment stuck to me, and I really didn't want to believe it. It prompted me to write this poem and design a page for it. It was 2 am. You just never know when God moves you to do something.

WAITING FOR ISAAC

I have been uprooted for a different season
Relocated to the soils of expectation
Of humble waiting...
For the genesis of my soul's retribution
And my turn for morn's rejoicing.
As a farmer works the field
You are toiling the grounds of my heart;
And as a commuter learns to yield
To the schedule of the train's coming,
I am being taught to trust
In Your perfect timing...
O Lord You will not delay.
Though my being sometimes grows faint
And cries, "How much longer?"
How many more sacrifices must I make?
Thorns to the flesh must I take?
Leaves in this balding Fall must I rake?
O how much longer?
My thoughts sometimes wander
And search for a home in answers,
But my brain reaches a ceiling.
Your ways are higher and gently without forcing
You speak Your plans unique to me.
You have not forgotten the dreams You've birthed in my womb
And the promised Laughter reserved in the morning.
These cold nights are labored in Love.
And though I may not understand all things,
and see all things the way You do now,
I am waiting, learning and longing to know how...
Also in Love.
For Love is patient.
